November 2, 2010

This weekend I was reminded of one of the greatest strengths of our school- the sense of community we have at Rountree.

The Rountree Roundup was held Saturday afternoon with perfect weather.  Many Rountree students, parents and faculty were present.  Games were played, Silent Auction items were purchased and laughter was shared.

The following evening the annual Weller Street Halloween parade took place.  I was unable to attend this year, but from what I have heard, it was one of the best attended in recent memory.  Rountree families and Rountree faculty and staff turned out to enjoy each other's company and marvel at the creativity of the costumes.

This sense of community translates into a strong volunteer base at the school.  Not a day goes by that there are not volunteers at the school performing a variety of tasks- making copies, reading with students, planning student events or stuffing Monday envelopes are just some of the many ways parents and volunteers give of their time to Rountree.

Thank you to all the volunteers who work to make Rountree a better place for students and staff.

If you are interested in volunteering at Rountree, please call the office at 523-4900.
